How We Fund This Site
Healthiz is an independently operated website. We are not owned by, or financially tied to, any supplement manufacturer, fitness brand, or retail chain. Our primary source of revenue is affiliate commissions. When you click a link on our site and subsequently purchase a product from a retailer, we may receive a small commission from that retailer at no additional cost to you. This commission helps us cover the costs of running the site, purchasing products for testing, and paying our team for the considerable time each review requires.
We want to be absolutely clear about one thing: affiliate income never influences our editorial judgement. Our reviews are written before any affiliate links are added, and our scores and recommendations are determined solely by our testing and research process. If a product scores poorly, we say so, even if we stand to earn a commission from its sale. We would rather lose a few pounds in affiliate revenue than compromise the trust our readers place in us.
UK Consumer Rights Act 2015
As a UK-based publication, we take our obligations under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 seriously. This legislation establishes that goods sold to consumers must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. While we are not a retailer and do not sell products directly, our reviews are designed to help you exercise your rights as a consumer by providing accurate, evidence-based information about the products you are considering purchasing.
If you purchase a product based on our review and find that it does not match the description provided by the manufacturer, you have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act. These include the right to a refund, repair, or replacement from the retailer within specified time frames. We encourage all our readers to be aware of these rights and to exercise them when appropriate. Our reviews aim to highlight any discrepancies between marketing claims and reality, which can support you in making informed purchasing decisions and in seeking redress if a product falls short.
We also note that under the Act, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for a particular purpose, and as described. Where we review digital products such as fitness apps or online coaching programmes, we apply the same standards and encourage readers to be aware of their rights regarding digital purchases.
Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) Compliance
Healthiz operates in full compliance with the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing (the CAP Code), which is administered by the Advertising Standards Authority. The CAP Code requires that marketing communications, including affiliate content, are clearly identifiable as such and are not misleading to consumers.
In practice, this means the following for our site:
- Every review that contains affiliate links includes a clear disclosure statement at the top of the page, before any affiliate links appear.
- We never present paid or affiliate content as independent editorial without disclosure.
- All claims made in our reviews are substantiated by evidence. We do not repeat unverified manufacturer claims without clearly labelling them as such and providing our own assessment.
- We do not use misleading headlines, fake urgency, or deceptive pricing information to drive clicks or purchases.
- Where we have received a product free of charge for review purposes, this is disclosed prominently within the review.
The ASA has the power to investigate complaints about advertising content, including online affiliate marketing. If you believe any content on Healthiz does not meet the standards set out in the CAP Code, we encourage you to contact us directly so we can address the issue. You may also file a complaint with the ASA at www.asa.org.uk.
Gifted Products and Sponsored Content
From time to time, brands may send us products free of charge in the hope that we will review them. We accept unsolicited samples, but we want to make our policy on gifted products completely clear:
- Receiving a free product does not guarantee a review will be published.
- Receiving a free product does not guarantee a positive review.
- We never accept payment in exchange for a guaranteed favourable review or a specific score.
- Any review of a gifted product includes a clear statement that the product was provided free of charge.
- Our testing and scoring methodology is applied identically to purchased and gifted products.
We do not currently publish sponsored content, advertorials, or paid placements. If this policy changes in the future, we will update this page and ensure that any sponsored content is clearly and prominently labelled in accordance with ASA and CAP Code requirements.
Affiliate Partnerships
We participate in affiliate programmes operated by a number of retailers and brands. These may include, but are not limited to, Amazon Associates, major supplement retailers, and fitness equipment suppliers. When you click an affiliate link on our site, a cookie may be placed on your browser by the retailer. If you make a purchase within the cookie window, we receive a commission.
The commission rates vary by retailer and product category but are typically between three and ten per cent of the sale price. This commission comes from the retailer's marketing budget and does not increase the price you pay. You will always pay the same price whether you arrive at the retailer through our link or directly.
We select affiliate partners based on their reputation, product range, and customer service record. However, our participation in an affiliate programme does not constitute an endorsement of the retailer. We recommend that you always check a retailer's returns policy and customer reviews before making a purchase.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial process is entirely separate from our commercial relationships. The team members who write and score reviews do not have visibility into which products generate the most affiliate revenue. Product selection for review is based on reader interest, market relevance, and the availability of sufficient scientific literature to conduct a meaningful evaluation, not on potential affiliate earnings.
We have turned down lucrative partnership offers from brands that wanted editorial control or guaranteed positive coverage. We will continue to do so. Our reputation for honesty is worth more than any single commercial relationship.
Your Rights and Our Commitment
As a reader of Healthiz, you have the right to know how we fund our work and how commercial relationships might affect our content. We believe we have gone above and beyond the minimum legal requirements for disclosure because we think transparency is not just a legal obligation but a moral one.
If you have any questions about our affiliate relationships, our disclosure practices, or anything else related to the commercial side of Healthiz, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to explain how we operate and to hear suggestions for how we can be even more transparent.
This disclosure page was last updated in January 2025 and is reviewed quarterly to ensure it remains accurate and complete.
